Nestabilities Now Club Tutorial #1

By Charmaine Ikach

Since this is the first tutorial for the Nestabilities Now Club, I thought I would start off with the very basics. This tutorial will show you how to cut and emboss with your Nestabilities in the Cuttlebug machine. If you have a machine other than the Cuttlebug, go to the Spellbinder's website for a compatibility chart.

Step 1

Step 1

Make your Cuttlebug sandwich for cutting by layering from the bottom up:

  1. A plate
  2. C plate
  3. Nestabilities die, blade side up (that’s the ridge on the die)
  4. Paper or cardstock
  5. B plate

NOTE: I’ve spread out the layers in the picture so you can see all of the layers. When you actually layer them, they will be directly on top of each other as shown in the next step. Also, use the size die that fits your purpose. For this card, I used the third largest circle in the
Standard Small Circle

set.

Step 2

Step 2

Roll your sandwich through the Cuttlebug. If you hear some popping, that’s completely normal. It’s the die cutting.

Step 3

Step 3

Once you roll your sandwich through the Cuttlebug, you will have your cut cardstock. Keep it in the die for the next step.

Step 4

Step 4

Now make your Cuttlebug sandwich for embossing by layering from the bottom up:

  1. A plate
  2. 2 sheets of cardstock to act as a shim. Add extra pieces if needed.
  3. B plate
  4. Nestabilities die, blade side up
  5. Paper or cardstock
  6. Spellbinders Tan Emboss Mat (from the Spellbinders Charm Embossing Kit)
  7. B plate

Step 5

Step 5

Again, with your sandwich layered with each piece directly on top of each other, roll it through your Cuttlebug.

Step 6

Step 6

You can now take your paper out of the die. You will see a nice embossed ridge on the edge of your die cut paper. (if you notice in the picture, the ridge on the die can be seen. . .this is the side you place up in your sandwiches)

Step 7

Step 7

Now stamp and color your image on your cut and embossed piece of cardstock.

Step 8

Final

Mount your cut, embossed and stamped piece onto the front of your card (here, I mounted it with foam dots). Finish with embellishments and add a sentiment.

I hope you’ve enjoyed your first Nestabilities Now tutorial! See you next month!
