December 07 Copic Club Tutorial

by Joanne Basile

Step 1To begin I stamped my Sophia from Snowflake Kisses with Brilliance Graphite Black ink onto Shimmery White paper.

Step 2Using my aqua, green and pink copics, I began coloring in the elements of her clothing.  My advice here is to move very slowly.  The ink does disperse quickly from the tip, so take your time.  I began by outlining her skirt, and then filling that area in.  I colored the boots, then the polka dots the solid area of the hat and then the polka dots etc.

I used two coats of the brown copic marker for her hair.

Can I just say I'm so excited to have a Brown to color in my teddy bear for "Cuddle Me!"  Watch for that soon!!!

Step 3To create depth, I applied second coats to portions of the area... for instance; I applied a second coat along the right hand side of the skirt and along the right hand side of the boots.

Next I colored in her jacket with the red marker, her mittens with the grey marker (I also colored the soles of her shoes with the grey marker...) Notice that similar to how I created shadow on the skirt, I've added a second coat around the tops of the mittens.

Sophia's face is colored in with Skin White from the first month's Copic Club selection.

I also used my Colorless Blender to lighten up portions of the skirt. Essentially, you are pulling off color to brighten the bottom right hand side of the skirt.

If you didn't join for the original month, you can pick up these colors at the Paper Pretties Boutique or have Christie special order it for you.  Lastly, I colored in the scarf and the fringe on her scarf and hat, and the stripes on her tights!  I had to use that yellow we had somewhere. (wink!)

Now to take this colored image and make a card!!

FinishedTo finish the image, I added liquid appliqué to the cuffs of her boots, mittens and brim of her hat. The snow angel is coated in glitter, I found some patterned paper in my ridiculous stash that had the same colors and I finished the card off with a quick scalloped border.

I'll be back soon with another quick sample using my Copic's from the first two month's selections.

In other news, we're heading to the Craft and Hobby Association early next month and I'm looking forward to sitting in on a demonstration at the Copic booth and will be back to share with you what I've learned!
