Nestabilities Now Tutorial #2

by Charmaine Ikach

Step 1

Step 2

Cut a window in your patterned paper.  Make your Cuttlebug sandwich for cutting by layering from the bottom up:

  1. A plate
  2. C plate
  3. Nestabilities die, blade side up (that's the ridge on the die)
  4. Paper or cardstock
  5. B plate

NOTE:  I've spread out the layers in the picture so you can see all of the layers.  When you actually layer them, they will be directly on top of each other as shown in the next step.  Also, use the size die that fits your purpose.  For this card, I used the second  largest circle in the Standard Large Circle set.

Step 2

Step 1

Roll your sandwich through the Cuttlebug.  If you hear some popping, that's completely normal.  It's the die cutting.

Step 3

Step 3

Take your piece of paper with the window now cut into it and select the next largest die in the set (for this one I used the largest circle in the Standard Large Circle Set) and place it so it frames the window you've cut.  (the picture shows the pattern of the paper facing you.  When you put it in the sandwich, the pattern of the paper will be facing down)

Step 4

Step 7

Now make your Cuttlebug sandwich for embossing by layering from the bottom up:

  1. A plate
  2. B plate
  3. Spellbinders Magnetic Placement mat.
  4. Nestabilities die, blade side up
  5. Paper or cardstock
  6. Spellbinders Tan Emboss Mat (from the Spellbinders Charm Embossing Kit)
  7. B plate

Step 5

Step 5

Again, with your sandwich layered with each piece directly on top of each other, roll it through your Cuttlebug.  Take the paper out of the die and you will see a nice embossed ridge framing your window.

Step 6

Step 6

Attach your cut and embossed patterned paper to the front of your card.

Step 7

Step 7

Now you are going to cut a window in your card front.  Make a cutting sandwich layering from the bottom up:

 Step 8

Step 8

Roll your sandwich through the Cuttlebug.  Remove card.  Now you have a layered window on the front of your card.

Step 9

Step 9

In pencil, lightly mark your window as a guide for stamping on the inside of the card.

Step 10

Step 10

Stamp your image on the inside of the card.  Now you can erase your pencil marks.  (make sure to let your ink dry first!)

Step 11

Step 11

Choose your colors and color your image.

Step 12

 Final

Add any embellishments and finish card.  For this card, I punched holes around the window, added wide grosgrain ribbon, some snowflakes and a sentiment on the front of the card.
